black sheep
In many cultures, the black sheep originally carried a negative connotation. Because within a flock of white sheep, the black sheep stood out. Its wool couldn't be dyed or processed as easily as white wool and therefore was often considered "worthless" or "unsociable." Gradually, the "black sheep" became synonymous with the "unaccepted one" in the group—the one who was different, unable to fit in, and even seen as a problem. But what's truly worth considering is: Did the black sheep really do anything wrong? Often, it was simply "different."
