Studio Use

  1. Each space is equipped with a number of chairs for classes and rehearsals. These chairs are not to be removed from the spaces and must be neatly stacked after each session.

  2. No one is permitted to use any tape on the floor other than PVC (LX) tape. There is a range of colours in the tech staff office – please speak to a member of the team if you need a roll of tape.  You must remove any tape you have put down in the space when you are finished rehearsing.

  3. When you use a studio or the theatre to rehearse you are responsible for how you leave the space. If you take any furniture or scenography items into the spaces, you must return them to their appropriate storage areas. No food or drink, with the exception of bottled water, should be brought into the Studios, Workshops and Media Suite.

  4. Do not prop open the studio’s fire exit doors. Do not prop open any doors with fire extinguishers.

  5. Do not use the hazer or emit any smoke into the studios without prior consent of the tech team, as these will trigger fire alarms causing Goldsmiths to evacuate!

  6. Do not paint in the studios.

  7. Do not leave any set or furniture in the studios unless block booked for your rehearsals/productions.

Some studios have some equipment that are designated as ‘limited use’. This is to ensure use of specialist equipment are prioritised for use by students with a specific need for said equipment.  Lighting desks cannot be used without a tutorial beforehand and significant experience. Please get in touch with Chloe Kenward (c.kenward@gold.ac.uk) and Nao Nagai (n.nagai@gold.ac.uk) if you would like to discuss use of the lighting desk.

No equipment can be taken off site (removed from campus) unless express permission is given by the technicians.
