Sound & Video

Above Studio 3 you will find the Media Suite/Lab, Vocal Booth and Patrick’s office, access via key code.  

  

You are free to use the Media Suite once you have had an induction, it is advisable to book a time slot if you want to use the Vocal Booth or require a tutorial with Patrick via email p.furness@gold.ac.uk  

  

You can log on to the computers using your Goldsmiths login, please remember to log out when you have finished.  

  

Remember to save your work, it will save to the computer’s local hard drive. Highly recommend a personal hard drive / memory stick and back up your work to this after every session.  This will enable you to work at any computer terminal in the Media suite or Library.  

  

Absolutely no food is permitted in the Digital Design Studio. Drinks are permitted, if covered. All rubbish must be discarded.  

 

STUDIO SOUND SYSTEMS 

 

You must contact Patrick in advance to access the control boxes in the studios in person or via email. You will receive an induction into the use of these spaces p.furness@gold.ac.uk  

 

Studio 1 + 2 + 3 + RHB 154  

There is a black box audio interface located on the wall to connect laptop/iPod/phone via aux, this also has microphone inputs but you will need to request a microphone from the Digital Design Studio. You can connect to any sound system on your device via Bluetooth.  

  

George Wood Theatre (GWT)  

You can connect to the sound system on your device via Bluetooth 

 

 

PROJECTERS 

When using any projector, it is important to turn them off when they are not in use for any prolonged periods of time to maximise their life expectancy.  

 

Studio 4, 5, RHB 154 and the George Wood Theatre all have built  in projectors. 

  

The projector in the George Wood Theatre (GWT) requires an HDMI lead into a choice of 3 wall panels. The GWT projector control panel is on the right wall up on the tech box level. This can be accessed via the middle seating bank stairs or via the back GWT door (opposite Studio 3). There are instructions next to the panel.

PLEASE NOTE: if you are using the piano in the theatre, only staff members are allowed to move it to avoid it going out of tune too quickly. When you have finished playing, please ensure that both lids are down, and the cover replaced.   

 

We have several keyboards in the department. These are in constant use by staff for classes, so if you would like to borrow a keyboard for rehearsals etc., please contact Patrick or Emily to arrange.
