WE ALL JUST WANT TO -
The last group struggled.
Numbered attempts scribbled on whiteboards. A monitor records results. Notes from the past sessions cover the whiteboard alongside stacks of feedback forms.
Today, with the help of a room full of strangers, he will try again.
we all just want to- is a participatory performance that invites audiences into a collective act of imagination. Through a series of simple instructions, participants are asked to construct and maintain a person. Small details change. Images overlap. Something begins.
As the attempt unfolds, the imagined person begins to drift from its source. New details emerge. Relationships form. The operator becomes increasingly invested in the outcome. What begins as a simple act of imagination gradually exceeds the system designed to contain it.
Blending live performance, audience participation and theatre, we all just want to- explores the strange territories between imagination and belief, in which things that don’t exist can still feel profoundly real.
Each attempt is recorded over the life of the piece.
